How Do I Build Traffic to my Blog

As I am spending times creating content for my blog the one problem at the back of my mind is how do I achieve some form of return from these contents? Once I have my content, I need to ensure it will be seen by the right people or targeted visitors. How do I do that?

The subject of driving traffic has been discussed by many bloggers out there and the current hot trends are:

  • Indexed by search engines
  • Posting to social bookmarking sites and network

I think if I do my posting right then my blog post should be optimized for it so it should be picked by search engines. How to make it to the top of their page is another area that I am still working on.

To get instant traffic boost from social bookmarking and networks, I am struggling to fits people interests with what I bookmarked or posted. I am always aware that if my content is relevant, useful or practical to another blogger, there a good chance someone will refer my link to a post or page in their site that strengthens or enhances their niche.

One problem I see is that traffic coming from social sites is always in a hurry hence the preference is to get more search engine traffic. However I am not ruling out social bookmarking sites as they can bring in traffics if I do it right.

I am currently working very hard to try to achieve either of the two objectives to get my message out to them. I am working on:

  • Getting more incoming links to each of my posts manually to increase the popularity of my post.
  • Submitting to multiple social bookmarking sites to get in front of interested party.

For the former I am using the “All In One SEO Pack” and “OnlyWire” plugin for the latter, although there is still manual work to be done for OnlyWire bookmarking and sharing. I will continue to check out other plugin that maybe able to automate or semi-automate this further.

I will also try to increase the number of social bookmarking and networks sites I am participating in. Currently I have joined Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, StumbleUpon, Digg and Delicious.

I have also recently started article marketing. I will cover this in another post in the future.
